I'm an avid fantasy reader, loving James Islington, Fonda Lee, and Pierce Brown to name a few authors. When my time isn't taken up by my two dogs, I like to spend time with my wife, play Nintendo video games (on Fire Emblem: Three Houses currently), explore Michigan's U.P., and watch football. Go Cowboys!
I always loved sci fi/fantasy growing up - my mom gave me some of the classics to read. Dune, Dragonriders of Pern, Lord of the Rings. But I never actually thought about writing my own book. It was always something that I thought would be cool to do, but I never had the "right" idea. Fast forward a couple years, and I meet my wife, and what do you know? She's writing a book.
"Why don't you write one?" She asks me. A valid question, considering how much I like stories in books, movies, and video games. So I start writing, just for fun. Bouncing around book ideas (many different book ideas lol). Finally, I land on one idea, where I'm intrigued by the world, and I like the characters. I roll with it. My wife and I start meeting in a writer's group with one of our friends, and I just continue writing. Its cathartic, it makes me feel good. I get excited when thinking about what could happen, get goosebumps when I come up with a big scene.
I think about it during my commute. When I'm bored. When I'm not bored. "You want to talk about writing again?" My wife would ask me jokingly.
Next thing I know, my first draft is done, and I'm considering publishing. Another two drafts later, and now I'm querying it to agents!
